the monogakari goes.
when people ask me nowadays,
which jpop songs i favour the most of an artiste/group,
i might be expected to say, oh it must definitely be AKB
but i must beg to differ.
Because i regard AKB as an idol group,
and the feeling i get from listening to their songs..
its never the same as compared to when i listen to the mainstream singers.
when you listen to AKB, your heart's supposed to fill up with wota emotion.
and you feel like doing the wotagei.
as compared to listening to mainstream japanese music,
which invokes various senses just like how music is supposed to act.
recently,
i finally got myself the opportunity to listen to Ikimonogakari's album of bests, Ikimonobakari.
which comes with many of their legendary tracks, as well as some B-sides that are (if im not wrong) newly added.
listening to an ikimonogakari album is always different from sampling an album by another artiste.
why? simply because when i listen to theirs, i dont exactly have to do my usual rankings.
( i do rankings when i listen to an album of songs, and grade them based on my own rubrics)
ikimonogakari's usually very standard, with 90% of their songs hitting my tastebuds the way i like them to.
its not exactly that they are awesome; perhaps its just that my tastes correlates with the few types of genres of music they produce, from their pop-rock to their ballads to the slightly more interesting ..
that, honestly, i feel is worthy of my commendation, and recognition as one of my top favourite japanese artist group.
...
and so anyway tonight became my jpop night again,
as i went abt sampling more than just ikimonogakari's album.
i was rocking to guitars and swaying to ballads like as tho i was in some live concert.
i dont know how people listen to music and study or read or anything, to me, that is merely listening.
and there is zero appreciation.
for appreciation only comes when you are the music's belonging.
when the universe only exists for the piece and yourself, and nothing else.
then you might have reached that world.
if there's about anyone as audiophilic as i am, do find me in this world one day.
and i will rock and jump and strum air guitars alongside until i sweat furiously.
which happens, today too.
