the way from the past

been owing some stuff, so blahblahblah, im gonna talk now.

im given 2 days of rest, because my next cycle actually starts on the friday and work continues through the weekend, and all the way till next thurs.

weekend duty = 12hr shift
not to mention 4 days of night shift which is really draining.

yawn. im tired of ranting bout this all the time.

so anyway, i travelled the lands today once again
usually i go to places to realign my geographical compass in my head and add onto my mental map capacity. its an added bonus to the great sense of adventure to be derived~

but my [first] stop was to revisit a place that possessed certain feelings.

today i began my trip by visiting a place thats important to me, because it meant alot.

my school of 6 years, down the same familar route over and over
i did so again today, going by my traditional revamped route.

everything's changing. the fields are gone, as is the whole front of the fence. in place is lots of construction for the new downtown line.

and the terraces are all fenced up. i realised the highsch have flagraising from within the concourse now. which is slightly sad, because its the site where daily assemblies, prize presentations are held, and the juniors cannot have the same atmosphere.

nothing much else is really different.
but the biggest difference i felt as i stepped into the compound was actl within me.

its a feeling that has changed. a place i belonged, to a place i once belonged.
perhaps i held onto certain things for too long, and way longer than others.

i guess the feeling of graduation kinda sank in today.

i still have great respect for the lands which nurtured me, and i still feel proud about the place, but the same sense of ownership and belonging seem to be gone.

crowds and crowds of similar aged people donned in familar uniforms, but no, they felt so different, so alien.
they are the new generation, they are the ones who are now running the show.

i went to the school, and saw no one i knew except for the green plate highsch canteen lady with whom i had a warm conversation with.

its all the past now. i could finally smile.

and life feels like it is moving on.

like many other beautiful things that happened in the past that i held on too tightly, perhaps it is time to realise that.. certain things are best left nicely preserved.

that i should live in the present, more often that ever.

and until we choose to cross our paths once again if the future requires, at least it was nice having such a past to relinquish.

time to grow up. i need to grow up.
